Testimonials
“We live in a small town and at camp our son was finally able to meet someone else with an implant. We talked with families and they understood exactly what we are going through. It was the highlight of our summer.” - Parent of a Camper
“The most valuable aspect of the camp for us was meeting more kids with cochlear implants. My daughter is fairly isolated in our small town.” - Parent of a Camper
For children with hearing loss and their families, there is often a critical need to interact with and receive support from others who face the same challenge. This need led to the 2001 creation of the CNI Cochlear Kids Camps.
The CNI Cochlear Kids Camp program is the only "full family" camp of its kind in the country, serving "Cochlear Kids" from ages 3 to high school seniors. To date, nearly 4,000 attendees have participated in the 22 CNI Cochlear Kids Camps offered. Held at YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center, each camp joins "Cochlear Kids" who face similar challenges in life, while creating a comfortable environment where parents and siblings bond with one another, receive education and support, and learn to be positive foundations for their Cochlear Kids. In addition, the camp provides an opportunity for selected camp "graduates" to return as volunteer counselors and mentors to the younger campers. All of this goes to the heart of the camp's motto: "Sharing Success."
Largely through donations, including support from attending and alumni families, the CNI Cochlear Kids Camps have been going strong for 12 years, attracting participants nationwide and worldwide. We ask that all camp families consider a donation to help support and sustain the camp, as we continually strive to offer this one-of-a-kind experience to as many "Cochlear Kids" as possible.
