Earns Accreditation of Joint Commission
By
demonstrating compliance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of
Healthcare Organization's national standards for health care quality and
safety, Swedish Medical Center's Primary Stroke Center has earned the
Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval.
The CNI Stroke Center along with Swedish Medical Center's Primary Stroke
Center form the only Comprehensive Stroke Center in the Rocky Mountain
Region. Swedish Medical Center's Primary Stroke Center is one in only
33 in the United States and the only one from Kansas City to Pasadena.
Swedish Medical Center provides acute care and in patient rehabilitation.
CNI provides patient and community education, stroke prevention and outpatient
rehab therapy.
Because JCAHO standards are regarded as the most rigorous in the industry,
JCAHO-certified disease management programs have demonstrated their commitment
to providing quality care to their patients. JCAHO's gold seal of approval
is a clear sign that certified programs have demonstrated compliance with
the most stringent standards of performance.
The Joint Commission's Disease Specific Care (DSC) Certification is designed
to evaluate disease management and chronic care services that are provided
by health plans, disease management service companies, hospitals and other
care delivery settings. The evaluation and resulting certification decision
is based on an assessment of:
- Compliance with consensus-based national standards.
- Effective use of established clinical practice guidelines to manage
and optimize care.
- An organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities.
