CNI NeuroTrauma Center
The Neurotrauma Center, which opened at CNI in 2004, offers early
intervention and secondary prevention services to patients with mild closed-head
injuries and spinal trauma. Early intervention is essential to reducing
long-term symptoms and, by rapidly assessing a patient's injuries, doctors
can quickly determine the most effective treatment options for recovery.
Medical Director of the CNI NeuroTrauma Center is J. Paul Elliott, MD.
In 2005, the CN NeuroTrauma Center:
- Organized patient treatment protocols in concert with the Trauma Service
at Swedish Medical Center.
- Acquired new state-of-the-art brain monitors for measuring intracranial
pressure and brain oxygenation to better guide treatment.
- Continued research looking at protein expression in the central nervous
system following traumatic brain injury.
- Continued collection of outcome data.
