Colorado Support Groups

Sometimes, just knowing there are others in the same situation can make a world of difference for a patient or caregiver. Having an opportunity to talk to someone who has been through a similar experience can be both encouraging and healing. CNI has several support groups available to patients trying to cope with neurological conditions. If you would like to find a support group for a neurological disorder - either local or national - which isn't listed below, or if you know of one that we should include here, please send us an e-mail. 

Below is a listing of support groups in Colorado for various movement disorders. Check our Links page, too, for national organizations.

Essential Tremor

• Essential Tremor Support Group: "Come with a concern and leave with a smile"  meets the 2nd Saturday of the month from 9am-11am September through May at McKee Wellness Center @ Mckee Hospital, 2000 N. Boise, Loveland, Colorado.  Contact:  Linda Hope 970-203-9289 or linda@hopephoto.net
  

Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA)

• Denver Metro Group- The group meets the 4th Wednesday  each month, 7:00-9:00 PM, with the exceptions being the summer picnic in June and the holiday potluck in December.  Location:  Johnson Adult Day Center; 3444 S. Emerson St; Englewood.  Please bring your children so they can participate in the youth program.
   
• North Denver Metro Group- The group meets the 2nd Tuesday each  month, 6:30-8PM.  Location:  Capabilities- 6805 W. 88th Ave;  Westminster. (Denver and North Metro groups are combined for June picnic and December holiday potluck meetings.)
   
• Northern Colorado Group- The group meets the third Thursday each month 6:30-8PM.   Location:  Hospice of Larimer County-Pathways to Hope and Healing; 305 Carpenter Road; Fort Collins, CO.
   
• Southern Colorado Group- The group meets the second Wednesday each month 7:00-8:30PM. Location: Memorial Hospital Heart Center Conference Room 3631 in Colorado Springs, CO.
     
• Western Slope Group- The group meets the fourth Tuesday each month 6:30-8PM.  Location:  First United Methodist Church; 522 White Ave.  Grand Junction, CO.

Parkinson Association of the Rockies

The Parkinson Association of the Rockies has been providing education, awareness, and support for Parkinson patients, families and health care providers in the Rocky Mountain region since 1981. Over 30 support groups exist across Colorado to help you learn more about Parkinson’s disease and the services available for people with Parkinson’s and their families. Groups include people with Parkinson’s, care-partners, friends, families, and health care professionals.

The following list was updated in July 2006. It's always best to call the contact number to make sure the group still meets at the same time and location. We'll do our best to keep this list accurate. For more information, you can also visit the Parkinson Association of the Rockies website.
