Dr. Kirsten Bracht is an epileptologist who earned her undergraduate degree at Stanford University and attended medical school at the University of Southern California School of Medicine.
Dr. Bracht served her neurology residency and received her fellowship training in clinical neurophysiology at USC. Her interests include adult and adolescent epilepsy. She participates in CNI clinical trials, studying promising medications in the treatment of seizures.
Dr. Alex West has been Associate Professor in the Department
of Neurosurgery at Oregon Health and Science University, Portland, Oregon,
for the three years before joining CNI's Epilepsy Center. Prior to that
he ran the epilepsy and brain tumor program at the University of Texas
Health Sciences Center in San Antonio.
Dr. West received his medical degree from the University of Virginia in 1989. We are excited to have his surgical skills complement our interdisciplinary team.
Peggy
Hugger, RN, has been the clinical coordinator of the CNI Epilepsy Center
since 1992. She is a graduate of St. Vincent's School of Nursing in New
York City, and has been involved in neurological/neurosurgical nursing
for over 25 years.
As the Epilepsy Center's nurse coordinator, Ms. Hugger's most important role is to be a patient advocate. Being involved in the Epilepsy Center has enabled Peggy to get to know almost all of the patients personally and to understand how epilepsy has impacted their lives. She is gratified that the cutting edge technologies, clinical trials, and surgery at CNI have helped improve the quality of life for many of the center's patients.
Ms. Leach is a registered electroneurodiagnostic technologist, a certified medical electroencephalograph technologist and a registered nurse. Ms. Leachs role in the CNI Epilepsy Center is to oversee the technical aspects of EEG and EP monitoring during the evaluation phase of the program. The Neurodiagnostics department also assists the physicians with the electrical mapping of the brain both before and during epilepsy surgery in order for the procedure to go as smoothly as possible.

Dr. Schneiders has been an active part of the CNI since its founding, and has directed neuropsychological services for many of its programs throughout the years. He earned his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1985, and is Board Certified in two specialties by the American Board of Professional Psychology: Clinical Neuropsychology, and Clinical Health Psychology. In addition to continuing to work to learn the complicated and sometimes frustrating language of his sweet Catahoula Leopard Dog (whose appetite for Bluetooth-enabled devices seems to have no limit), Dr. Schneiders has long held a special interest in the neuropsychology of language, has earned graduate degrees in comparative history and in theological and religious studies, and has for many years also been an ardent creative writer for whom the Pulitzer Prize continues to remain safely out of reach.
