Calculate Your Stroke Risk
Our Personal Stroke Risk Calculator was developed based on the results of the seminal Framingham Heart Study. By entering your stroke risk factors into our Calculator, which was developed on an interactive Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, you'll see your relative risk of stroke over the next 10 years.
To calculate your stroke risk, you'll need to know your systolic blood pressure (the higher, "top" number in a blood pressure reading.) Other data you'll enter includes your gender, age, height, and weight, as well as whether you are currently taking medication for high blood pressure or diabetes. The calculator will also ask whether you are a smoker or have a history of heart disease, including atrial fibrillation ("afib"), or left ventricular hypertrophy.
The program will show your cumulative stroke risk over the next 10 years in a visual graph. It will also calculate your ideal body mass index (BMI). This measurement will help you know whether you are underweight, at an ideal weight, overweight, or obese.
