Support Groups

CNI has several support groups available to patients who are living with movement disorders. Click on the following links for information about specific support groups in Colorado. Feel free to contact our team for information regarding other support groups around the country.

Parkinson's Disease –Diagnosed within 1-5 Years (LEAP)

Who: For those diagnosed from 1-5 years. Care partners and loved ones are welcome.

Where: Swedish Medical Center
Conference Room Pine B
501 East Hampden Ave
Englewood, CO 80113

When: 2nd Wednesday of each month (except February when group meets on Wednesday, February 22)
11:30 AM—1:30 PM

Facilitators: Diane Cook and Betsy Vierck. Both have been recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Diane is a management consultant and graduate of the Parkinson's Disease Foundation Clinical Research Learning Institute. Betsy Is a medical writer and author of 21 books.

Please RSVP as the group occasionally schedules special sessions in a different location.

Parkinson's Disease - Diagnosed within 1 Year

Who: For people who have been very recently diagnosed (within 1 year). Care partners and loved ones are welcome

What: Monthly Support Group Meetings. Our goal is to be upbeat and action-oriented about living with PD. We will hear from neurologists, exercise professionals, psychologists, nutritionists and other experts about what we can do to manage and slow down the progression of our PD. We will learn how we can stay healthy and fit in spite of our Parkinson's symptoms. And we'll share tips and personal information. We'll also make new friends and have fun!

When: 3rd Tuesday of each month (except February when group meets on Wednesday, February 22)
11:30 AM to 1:30 PM
Please feel free to bring your own lunch. Drinks and snacks provided.

Facilitators:Kitsi Atkinson, a geologist and graduate of the Parkinson's Disease Foundation's Clinical Learning Institute, and Margaret Melander, a former court reporter and teacher. Both Kitsi and Margaret have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease within the last several years.

Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), Multiple Systems Atrophy (MSA), Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD)

Who: This support group addresses the concerns and care of those living with these rare movement disorders. The group attempts to answer everyday concerns of the patient and caregivers in a relaxed and understanding atmosphere.

When: Meets 2nd Friday of each month
