Elise's Story

Elise is a bright, vibrant young lady who radiates confidence with her feisty spirit and infectious smile. Diagnosed with hearing loss at birth, Elise has undergone bilateral cochlear implant surgery which allows her to hear every beat of the music during the ice skating competitions which are her passion. Now, instead of silence, Elise’s life is filled with the joyful shouts of hope and promise.

The CNI Center for Hearing provides high-quality, comprehensive care for patients living with a wide variety of ear disorders, utilizing a collaborative, team approach that brings together top specialists from various disciplines, including fellowship-trained neurotologists (ear surgeons), audiologists, neurosurgeons, speech-language therapists, and auditory-verbal therapists. These experts work together to provide highly coordinated and personalized care that addresses the full range of each patient’s diagnostic and treatment needs.

The CNI Center for Hearing offers advanced resources and technology to improve sound detection and communication abilities for both children and adults with severe or profound hearing loss. The center currently includes two Englewood practices and operates one of the largest, most comprehensive and busiest cochlear implant programs in the region. Cochlear implants, a technological miracle that brings the recipient from the deaf world to the hearing world, has been shown to be one of the most cost-effective, advanced medical technologies in the world today. The center is also active in research for the development of new cochlear implant devices and serves as a leading training facility.

Patient Care

The CNI Center for Hearing provides a full complement of diagnostic testing and today’s most advanced treatments for adults and children, including cochlear implants and implantable hearing aids. These services and resources are provided through the collaborative efforts of both the Rocky Mountain Ear Center and Denver Ear Associates, private practices providing patient evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment services, and the non-profit CNI Rocky Mountain Cochlear Implant Center, the largest, most comprehensive, and busiest cochlear implant program in the region. The Rocky Mountain Cochlear Implant Center also serves as a training facility for physicians from North and South America who are learning cochlear implant surgical techniques. Surgical instruction is provided at CNI’s Mile-Hi Sertoma MicroSurgical Teaching Lab.
