How to Help

Why Your Gift Matters

Stories of Hope

Your gift to the Colorado Neurological Institute will support a powerful, impactful mission that touches lives every day:

To enhance the delivery of personalized, comprehensive and state-of-the-art care to patients with neurological conditions through coordinated patient care, education, research, and outreach activities.

The stories below illustrate how your gift to CNI will go to work for our patients and their families...all in the spirit of our mission.

You might know Cindy Acree as a highly respected Colorado state representative, but Cindy has been involved in CNI for decades. Many years ago, she suffered a stroke while undergoing surgery for epilepsy. The road back to recovery was a long, arduous one and in this video Cindy shares her incredible story and her connection with CNI.

J.J. Beattie is a devoted mom who learned she an inoperable brain tumor. But J.J. has never given up hope or let her diagnosis get the best of her. Quite the opposite; she's a fighter who has inspired her family, friends and all of us at CNI. Also read J.J.'s story.

When Diane Cook learned she had Parkinson's disease, she took immediate action. She learned as much about the disease as possible and has become a PD activist, co-founding two highly successful support groups, promoting PD research, developing a self-efficacy model and even starting a foundation to spark research and education. Here she tells her story in truly unique terms. Also read Diane's story.

Lisa & Jerry Dowling have been through several medical crises with Lisa, most recently a stroke. And through it all they prevailed as a team. Also read Lisa and Jerry's story.

Alison Hedquist, a proud and devoted mother, battled epilepsy every day of her life. When medication no longer worked, she turned to the CNI Epilepsy Center, where she underwent surgery that effectively ended her seizures. Also read Alison's story.

Lizzie was born without the ability to hear. Fifty years ago she would have had few, if any, options for medical intervention. Today, thanks to the miracle of cochlear implantation, Lizzie can hear and is excelling in school. Also read Lizzie's story.

You can help bring the CNI mission to more patients and families by giving a gift today.
